My current disillusionment with Korea

It feels like a relationship with a person you've loved for so long, but you know you need to let them go in order to grow. Not to say you can't be together eventually, but right now something is missing. Still you stay, because it's comfortable. That's how I feel about Korea right now. Korea has changed so much and yet changed so little since I moved here. And the same is true of me. It was only a matter of time before we grew apart.

An open letter to (many) Korean women

OK, so I said I would update you about my life, and I will, but here is a short pressing one I've got to get off my chest.

Dear (many) women in Korea,

I have lived in Korea on and off for over three years, and this doesn't make me any kind of expert on Korea, but I would like to say this : Korean girls! Wake up

I'm still alive (and in Korea^^)

Hello there! Or should I say 안녕하세요! (Annyeong Haseyo)

Just let me finish my finals this week, and I will catch you up on all the juicy goodness that has been going on in my life.

Yes I still live in Korea but my life has changed drastically.

 Things to look forward to:

  1. Big Bang concert (YES I went)
  2. The drama of how I quit my job
  3. Japan
  4. Surviving level "3" Korean at Yonsei
  5. Joining the cross-fit 'cult' as my friend calls it - health and fitness update
  6. Amazing Korean finds
  7. Random Korean rants
  8. Possible next steps (toying with the idea of leaving Korea or improving my Korean and furthering my degree here, but if I put any more effort in I'm here for the long haul).
  9. Hilarious Korean adventures (as could only happen to me)
  10.  and much more

Stay tuned for the updates. Next week. I promise!
p.s I just got into Pinterest. It's fun! As if I needed another social media forum to latch on to Follow Me on Pinterest

새해 복 많이 받으세요, or Enter the Dragon

Year of the Black Dragon

OMG, 2012 is  the year of the Black Water Dragon, and officially begins today according to the Lunar Calender. You may have heard of it as Chinese New Year, or Tet, but in Korea, it's called  설날 (Seollal) The Korean written in the title translates to lots of luck in the new year. It's been a crazy past few months for me. I began studying Korean in earnest, I moved from Nowon to Haebangchon, almost got ripped off of my deposit money but handled it in Korean (sort of), went a one week trip to Nigeria (after 15 years) for a reunion with my family and became so freaking fit I don't know what to do with myself. And I may also be getting kicked of Korea as my FBI background check is currently missing...
